Daegu was called Dalguhwahyeon or Dalgubeol during the period of the Three Kingdoms, and renamed to Daegu-hyeon in 757, the 16th year of King Gyeongdeok in the Silla Kingdom.
In 1143, the magistrate of Daegu-hyeon was appointed by the central government, and Daegu-hyeon was promoted to Daegu-gun in 1419, the 1st year of King Sejong in the Joseon Dynasty, and again to Daegu Dohobu in 1466, the 12th year of King Sejo. In 1780, the name was changed from Daegu (大丘) to Daegu (大邱), and the Daegu Administration Office was installed in 1910. Daegu became a city (Daegu-si) on August 15, 1949.
In our area, the Dongbu Branch Office of Daegu-bu was installed in 1938, and was promoted to Dong-gu of Daegu-si as it is today on January 1, 1963.

- Renamed to Dong-gu of Daegu Metropolitan City

- Dong function transfer was made, and residents’ self-governing center was launched
