Those who have lost the nationality of the Republic of Korea and acquired a foreign nationality or who are foreigners born in Korea, and are going to stay in Korea longer than 90 days from the date of acquisition of the permit to stay
Exceptions to alien registration
Foreigners falling within the categories listed below are exempted from alien registration.
Korea Institute of Industrial Technology Evaluation and Planning, Korea Industrial Complex Corporation, Korea Credit Guarantee Fund
Those engaged in crucial jobs related to diplomacy, industry or national defense and their families and any foreigners whom the Minister of Justice considered it necessary to exempt from alien registration.
Canadians who are going to stay in Korea shorter than 6 months and are permitted to stay for activities as follows → culture and art (D-1), religion (D-6), visiting (F-1), accompanying (F-3), miscellaneous (G-1)
Time of alien registration
Foreigners who are going to stay in Korea longer than 90 days → Within 90 days from the date of entrance to the Republic of Korea
Foreigners who have been permitted to stay or whose qualification have been changed for stay
→ On receiving the permit (immediately)
In case a Canadian with B-2 tourist visa applies for the change of qualification for stay after 5 months’ stay, alien registration should be made on applying for the change of qualification for stay.
